- We are not asked to obey our parents simply to make our lives more challenging or less fun, but so that we may have a long, good life. This is the first commandment with a promise. (Ephesians 6:1-3)
- Parents, don't just try to make your kids go crazy with rules, but bring them up to be like Jesus. (Ephesians 6:4)
- Work as though you were working for Christ. Do your best no matter who is watching because God always is. God will reward those who do the right thing, even if the circumstances are less than ideal. (Ephesians 6:5-8)
- Masters, employers, need to keep the same principle in mind and treat their slaves, employees, the way Christ would. (Ephesians 6:9)
- We live in a world that is a battlefield between good and evil. God has provided resources for us to fight this battle, if we are willing to make use of them. (Ephesians 6:10-17)
- Pray. All the time. About everything. (Ephesians 6:18-20)

Ephesians 6:5-8 tells us to work as if we were serving the Lord.
I like Ephesians 6:9- God shows no favouritism and we are all equal in His eyes.
I love the whole imagery in the Armour of God section. We need to know God's truth, be righteous, pray, have faith . We cannot fight evil on our own since evil is in a spiritual realm but it's very comforting to know that God's Word always wins over evil.
Hi Rowena. Ephesians 6:5-8 reminds me of one of my first blog posts, from January 9, 2011. We are working for the Lord. No matter how anything we do benefits others here on earth, He will give us our final job evaluation. We want to hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

Ephesians 6:13-18 speak to me here. we have far more than we can handle on our own and we do need His help, I struggle and always do with knowing what in my life is God saying to me, for the last 40 years, I still think God is quiet to me but I have hope that I will get to hear from Him like my friends do.
Hi Karen. There is a good chance that your friends don't always hear from God the way they want to either. I know that I would love it if He would just give me clear direction in all the decisions I have to make. He doesn't always; sometimes He leaves the choices up to us. The major ways that God speaks to us are through His Word and in prayer. The more time we spend reading His Word, the better we will know Him and recognize His will for us. But that won't always answer the specific questions, like should I take this job or that job? Decisions like that He will sometimes make clear to us in prayer. But in order for that to happen, prayer time needs to include listening, which most of us (speaking for myself) aren't very good at. If there is a particular question you want an answer for, ask very specifically for what you want, ask Him to make the decision clear to you, and then spend some time listening. You aren't likely to hear the answer as an audible voice, but it might come in your thoughts or through things that other people say. Keep your mind open for the answer.
